Yorba Linda Veterans Memorial Events
The Yorba Linda Veterans Memorial Association conducts two major events each year, one on Memorial Day and the other on Veterans Day. These events are conducted on the actual day rather than the “observed” day and begin at 2 p.m. sharp.
Memorial Day is the last Monday in May. Veterans Day is always on November 11, regardless of the day of the week it falls on.
The Association runs a program which includes pomp and circumstance reserved for these types of events, along with a keynote speaker and the reading of the Orange County Gold Star Walk of Honor Roll Call.
The Association brings in city leaders, special guests, and other dignitaries to attend the event, who in some cases speak to the assembly as well. Just before the event begins, and upon conclusion of the formal program, there is ample opportunity to meet other attendees. As the day of the event approaches, a more detailed description of the program will be made available. The event is open to the public. The city sets up a large tent to provide shade. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Honoring Hometown Heroes – Sunday, December 8, at 1 PM
The Yorba Linda Veterans Memorial Association is pleased to announce that we will host the Honoring Hometown Heroes ceremony on Sunday, December 8, at 1 PM. This year the ceremony will be held at the Yorba Linda Community Center, located at 4501 Casa Loma Avenue, Yorba Linda, CA 92886.
The Honoring Hometown Heroes ceremony began in 2010 to honor the brave service members who sacrificed while protecting our essential freedoms and great country. At the ceremony, Gold Star families are invited to place a personalized ornament of the Honoring Hometown Heroes Christmas Tree. After the ceremony, the families are given their hero’s ornament as a keepsake.
The 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit from Camp Pendleton will present the Colors, and the Band of the California Battalion, Southern California’s premiere Civil War reenactment band, will provide music. The event is open to the public, and all are encouraged to attend.
